Sukanth Bikash Dhar, Satkania: Satkania Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Milton Biswas said that the example set by BRAC by providing cash and building houses for the Banvasis of Satkania is really commendable. If other NGO organizations and social philanthropists like BRAC stand as a symbol of dependence among the helpless, no poor people in Satkania will suffer. As a result, the helpless can become self-reliant and engage in the service of the country by teaching and educating their children, along with the beautiful society.
He said these things in the speech of the chief guest at the closing workshop of the Chittagong Flush Floods Emergency Response Project under the disaster risk management program of the NGO organization BRAC held at Satkania Upazila Parishad Auditorium this morning (Tuesday).
Under the chairmanship of Satkania Upazila Chairman (Acting) Anjuman Ara and BRAC Bandarban District Coordinator, The special guest at the workshop conducted by Arif was Upazila Vice Chairman Md. Salah Uddin Hasan Chowdhury, Senior Program Manager of BRAC’s Disaster Risk Management Program. Farhad Hossain is the project manager of the Chittagong Flush Floods Emergency Response Project. Mahbub ul Alam. Various government officials, beneficiaries, and journalists from print and electronic media were present on the occasion.
Md. Farhad Hossain, senior program manager of BRAC’s disaster risk management program, said that BRAC will take initiatives alongside government-private organizations to increase our support for such activities compared to flood damage. BRAC will coordinate with the Upazila administration to avoid duplication and ensure proper coordination.
It is to be noted that among the 1,400 families in 17 unions and one municipality in Satkania upazila affected by the recent floods, BRAC has given Tk 5,500 in cash to each family and constructed houses for 50 families.
