Nagar Reporter: Two policemen were injured when the car of Chittagong City Corporation Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, who was behind, suddenly braked on Udalsad.
The accident took place in the C&B Colony section of the Akhtaruzzaman flyover in the city around 1:15 p.m. on Sunday.
The injured police members are Md. Abdul Quader and Md. Sister.
Injured policeman Abdul Quader said that the mayor was going to the corporation office from home. At that time, a CNG-powered autorickshaw in front of the mayor’s motorcade suddenly braked on the highway, and the accident took place. The mayor’s car hit the police car in front due to braking. Then a constable fell out of the police van.
At the scene, it was seen that the mayor’s car was lying on the road. The front part of the car was damaged. The rear part of the police car was also damaged.
Meanwhile, around 1:00 p.m., the mayor was seen heading to the office in another vehicle. However, two policemen are seen guarding the mayor’s car after the accident.
Police member Abdul Quader said that the police could not catch the autorickshaw that broke suddenly.
