Dhaka Bureau: Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Jasad) President Hasanul Haque Inu said that the candidates of the 14-party alliance led by the Awami League will be elected with the boat symbol. Bangladesh Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JASD) President Hasanul Haque Inu, and General Secretary Shirin Akhtar sat in a meeting at Amir Hossain Amu’s residence in Iskaton of the capital this afternoon.
After the meeting, Inu said that through the meeting and dinner with Sheikh Hasina, he gave a clear message that there is a coalition and the coalition will hold elections together. We will be able to settle the issue of seat sharing. Any transaction will be a bargain—a bargain of the mind. There is bargaining between friends, and there is bargaining between minds. At the end of the day, I will go out with a smile and holding hands. Alliance candidates will come here, and Awami League candidates will rise there.
He also said that we have asked the Awami League president to consider what the party’s strategy will be in the case of an independent candidate. There is time; I will discuss. Candidates will select the boat brand.
Inu said there is no breach of the code of conduct if someone withdraws nomination papers. Any party can request a candidate. So I don’t think there will be any moral pollution in this regard. How the party will implement the strategic decision will have to wait until the last day.
Earlier yesterday evening, the leaders of the 14-party alliance led by the Awami League had a meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Ganobhaban. In that meeting, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, 14 Party Coordinator Amir Hossain Amu, Jatiya Party-JP President Anwar Hossain Manju, Walkers Party President Rashed Khan Menon and Fazle Hossain Badsha, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal Jasder President Hasanul Haque Inu, General Secretary Shirin Akhtar, Dilip Barua, general secretary of the Communist Party, Najibul Bashar Maizbhandari, chairman of Tarikat Federation, and others were present.
