The Crime Desk: Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s nephew and Jubo League founder Shaheed Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni’s 85th birthday is on Monday (December 4). He was born on this day in 1939 in Tungipara, Gopalganj, in the historic Sheikh family. Sheikh Moni’s father, Sheikh Nurul Haque, was Bangabandhu’s sister-in-law. Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni was one of the organizers of the Great War of Liberation and one of the four main organizers of Mujib’s army. He and his wife, Begum Arju Moni, were brutally murdered along with Bangabandhu on August 15, 1975. He was the father of two sons in his personal life.
Sheikh Moni established the Jubo League as the first youth organization in independent Bangladesh in 1972, under the instructions of Bangabandhu. He passed secondary school from Dhaka Nab Kumar Institute and higher secondary school from Jagannath College in 1958. In 1960, he received a BA degree from Barisal BM College.
Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni was involved in politics as well as literature and journalism. He was the author of the novel ‘Abanchita’ and the editor of Dainik Banglar Bani, Bangladesh Times, and Cinema Patrika.
On the occasion of Sheikh Moni’s birthday, the Jubo League has called for a ‘Youth Victory’ rally and cultural program at Bangabandhu Avenue on Monday (December 4) at 10:30 a.m.
Chairman of Jubo League Sheikh Fazle Shams Parsh will attend the event, as the chief guest will be a member of the Awami League Advisory Council, coordinator, and spokesperson of 14 parties, Amir Hossain Amu. Central leaders, including Awami League Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nashim, will be present.
Apart from this, at 8:30 in the morning, tributes, the reading of Fateha, and prayers will be held at the graves of martyr Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni, including martyr Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni, who died on August 15.
