Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: The tourist police arrested four people in Cox’s Bazar within 48 hours of robbing a foreign tourist. At the same time, the police said to have identified all the members of the active robbery group called Babu Group.
Additional DIG of Tourist Police Cox’s Bazar Region Apel Mahmud gave this information on Sunday (December 3) around four o’clock in the afternoon.
The arrested are Mehedi Hasan Babu (16), son of Abul Faiz of West New Baharchhara area of Cox’s Bazar, Abir Hossain San (23), son of Mohammad Yusuf of the same area, Mohammad Abir (19), son of Monir Hossain, and Mosaidul Islam Samad, son of Sirajul Islam of Jhautla Garhir area. (18).
Tourist Police Cox’s Bazar Region Additional DIG Apel Mahmud said that last Friday night, 6 people including Babu of Babu Group tried to snatch the bag of foreign tourist (Saudi citizen) Al Hudaybi Khalid Mohammad in front of Hotel Ocean Paradise in Kalatali.
Unable to take the bag, he was stabbed. Later, based on the information given by them and the complaint filed at the police station, the special operational team of the tourist police entered the field. In their operation, the group was able to arrest four people including the head Babu.
Apple Mahmud, citing the initial questioning, said that four people including Babu of the accused Babu group have been arrested, but the other two have also been identified. They will also be arrested. The arrested Babu admitted his involvement in the incident and agreed to give a statement under Section 164. He will be produced in court.
He also said that the tourist police is working in a planned manner for the safety of tourists. Tourist police has formed a 10-member special team to crack down on robbers. Those who are in the field 24 hours a day. As a result of which, within 48 hours, the members of the Babu group were arrested, this tourist police official said. No one can get away with crime.
