Awami League has women candidates in three of the five constituencies in Gaibandha

Gaibandha Representative: Women candidates have been nominated in three of the five constituencies of Gaibandha nominated by the Awami League in the 12th National Parliament Elections. Male candidates have been nominated for the remaining two seats.

The three women candidates nominated are: Upazila Awami League President Afroza Bari in Gaibandha-1 (Sunderganj) Constituency; current Member of Parliament and Whip Mahabub Ara Begum Gini in Gaibandha-2 (Gaibandha Sadar) Constituency; and Krishak League Central in Gaibandha-3 (Sadulyapur-Palashbari) Constituency. General Secretary and current Member of Parliament, Umme Kulsoom Smriti Besides, new faces have been nominated for two seats, both male and female. They are Mrs. Afroza Bari in the Gaibandha-1 seat and Abul Kalam Azad in the Gaibandha-4 seat.

On the other hand, former member of Parliament Abul Kalam Azad has been chosen as the male candidate for Gaibandha-4 (Gobindganj) constituency, and Mahmud Hasan Ripon, former president of the Central Chhatra League and current member of Parliament for Gaibandha-5 (Saghata-Phulchhari) constituency, has been chosen as the party nominee.

Earlier, the party’s general secretary, Obaidul Quader, announced the final list of candidates at a press conference at the Awami League’s central office on Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital on November 26. Through this announcement, all the speculations of the common people of the area, including the candidate-supporters of the party, have come to an end. As the party nomination was announced, the candidate’s worker supporters distributed sweets in each constituency.
