The two arrested are Mizanur Rahman, organizational secretary of the city’s South Agrabad Ward BNP, and activist Md. Mainuddin. The Doublemooring police station arrested them around 7 p.m. on Sunday.
According to the police, the two men took up positions with torches and kerosene near the Agrabad Jamboree ground. They were trying to set fire to a bus parked there. At that time, the local Chhatra League and Sramik League leaders arrested them. They were later handed over to a police team near the spot.
Local Chhatra League and Sramik League leaders held a protest march in Agrabad and surrounding areas to protest this incident.
