Fire in the Tangail commuter train; 2 coaches gutted

Tangail Correspondent: Miscreants set fire to a commuter train standing at Gharinda railway station in Tangail. Two compartments of the train were burned. Another compartment of the train was partially damaged.

On Wednesday (November 15), miscreants set fire to the Dhaka-bound train from Tangail at the Gharinda railway station of the upazila at around 3 p.m. However, there was no casualty, as there were no passengers in the compartment at that time.

It is known that fire was seen burning in three compartments of the train standing at the railway station at around three o’clock in the night. On receiving the information, a fire service unit brought the fire under control after trying for an hour. It was not immediately clear who started the fire. The extent of the damage caused by the fire was not immediately known.

Gharinda station master Tariqul Islam said that it is not known who set fire to the train at night. Two compartments of the commuter train were completely burned. Apart from this, another compartment was partially burned. Later, fire service personnel reached the spot and brought the fire under control. However, there was no damage to the Panchagarh Express train nearby.
