Dhaka Bureau: The process of distribution of application forms for the nomination of the Awami League in the 12th National Parliament election to be held on January 7 will start tomorrow, Friday. Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate it. The General Secretary of the party and the Minister of Road Transport and Bridges gave this information. Simultaneously, the Awami League’s 12th National Election Steering Committee meeting will be held tomorrow. Bangabandhu’s daughter, Sheikh Hasina, is the chairman of this committee. Obaidul Quader is serving as member secretary. However, no one has been given the responsibility of co-chairman yet.

Meanwhile, the Awami League is entering into an all-out election war with all the preparations to face its political opponents on the streets. Apart from keeping the streets under their control, all future programs of the Awami League will be election-centric. Party leader and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will start the official election campaign from Punyabhoomi Sylhet.

A press conference of the Awami League will be held at the offices of Dhaka District and Dhaka Metropolitan North Awami League at Tejgaon in the capital today at 11 a.m. Party General Secretary Obaidul Quader will address it.

It is known that this time the application fee for party nomination has been increased from 30 thousand to 50 thousand. Application forms for nomination can be collected and submitted from the Awami League Central Office at 23 Bangabandhu Avenue. That opportunity is also available online. It is known that the party has already finalized the selection of party candidates for 300 seats. Party president Sheikh Hasina has already shortlisted potential party candidates for the upcoming elections.

The central leaders of the Awami League said that 56 members of parliament and ministers of the Awami League lost their nominations in the 2018 elections. Before that, 49 members of Parliament, including six ministers and state ministers, were eliminated in the 2014 10th parliamentary elections. The Awami League does not want to take the minimum risk in the selection of candidates to bring the Awami League victory for the fourth consecutive time in the current situation. The party will nominate those candidates who have a popular base and are likely to win the elections in phased surveys. As a result, more than in the previous two elections, this time a greater number of current members of Parliament may burn their foreheads and lose their party nominations. 14 subcommittees have been formed on the occasion of the upcoming elections. Last time, there were 14.
