Dhaka Bureau: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Habibur Rahman visited the election building and the surrounding security system in Agargaon of the capital before the announcement of the upcoming 12th National Assembly election schedule. On Wednesday (November 15) at noon, he told reporters at the election building, “I came here to see total security.” If there is any anarchy, the police will definitely take a strict stand.
Habibur Rahman warned that the police will take a strict stand against those who disrupt peace and order in the country around the elections. In response to a question from journalists, he said that the police will do all the work required by the police to ensure the security of the Election Commission and other city residents around the schedule. Today I came to see the special security checkup, security inspection, and security of important installations.
It is to be noted that the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), Kazi Habibul Awal, is going to announce the election schedule by addressing the nation on Wednesday evening. He is going to give this schedule at a time when there is a nationwide blockade called by the BNP and like-minded parties demanding elections under a non-partisan government. Security has been beefed up around the election hall since morning on the occasion of the announcement of the schedule among the programs of the opposition party.
