City Reporter: The fifth phase of the two-day blockade program called BNP has started today in the port city of Chittagong. But the blockade has no effect. All types of vehicles are moving normally in the city and district of Upazila. Long-distance vehicles are also running on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway and Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway.
Since Wednesday morning (November 15), it has been found that all types of vehicles are running normally in different areas of Chittagong City.
Saiful Islam, counter manager of Ena Paribahan at the Alankar intersection of the city, said that cars from Chittagong to Dhaka and other destinations leave every hour, but the number of passengers is low. Long-distance buses are running normally.
Ismail Hossain, a worker in charge at the counter of Saudia Paribahan in the Chandgaon area of the city, said that bus traffic is normal on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar road. There are no obstacles anywhere.
Meanwhile, all types of public transport are running normally in Chittagong City. Normal traffic congestion has also been observed in different areas of the city, including Bahaddar Hat, GEC, Agrabad, Bandar, EPZ, and Chawkbazar. Along with passenger buses and public transport, goods trucks, covered vans, and other vehicles are also running normally on the city and Antjela highways. There were no reports of march picketing in support of the blockade anywhere in Chittagong City.
Chittagong Deputy Commissioner Abul Basar Mohammad Fakhruzzaman said that necessary measures have been taken to keep the supply chain in order. By coordinating in the district, Dhaka-bound goods vehicles are gathered together with the help of law and order forces to ensure safe movement.
