Rangpur Correspondent: Inauguration of a natural gas pipeline in the Rangpur region today (Tuesday). This natural gas pipeline has been laid from Bogra to Nilphamari via Rangpur.

On Tuesday (November 14), Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will virtually inaugurate the Bogra-Rangpur-Syedpur transmission pipeline.

The demand for the supply of natural gas through pipelines in Rangpur district has been there for a long time. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina promised to implement that demand when she visited Rangpur in 2011. After that, the government decided to expand the natural gas pipeline connection in Rangpur. A 150-kilometer gas transmission pipeline from Bogra has been prepared to end the long wait.

Khandkar Ariful Islam, director of the Bogra-Rangpur-Syedpur transmission pipe line project, confirmed the matter.

He said, Fire will be lit in the Pirganj area of Rangpur. The Prime Minister will inaugurate virtually from Dhaka. And Petrobangla Chairman Janendra Nath Sarkar, GTCL Managing Director Engineer Rukhsana Najma Ishaq, local public representatives, and dignitaries will be present at Pirganj.

It is known that two state companies are working on gas supply in the Rangpur region. GTCL is in charge of transmission, while Western Gas Distribution Company Limited (PGCL) is in charge of the distribution portion of the project. The transmission company has completed the construction of the transmission line from Bogra to Syedpur. But the customers are not getting the benefit until the distribution line is completed.
