Dhaka Bureau: Jalal Uddin (42), who was shot by the police during the garment workers’ protest in Gazipur’s Konabari, died in the Dhaka Medical College (DMEC) hospital while undergoing treatment. He died in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on Saturday night (November 10). He was working as a supervisor for Islam Garments.
Confirming his death, brother-in-law Rezaul Karim said that Jalal’s house is at the Kendua police station in Netrakona. At present, he lives in the Konabari Zarun Bazar area with his wife, Nargis Parveen, and only daughter. He said that around 8 a.m. on November 8, Jalal was injured by the shotgun fired by the police during the movement demanding a salary increase in the Zarun area. The bullet hit him in the stomach. He was admitted to DMK Hospital that day. On the same day, a woman laborer named Anjuara Khatun (28) was killed by the police in that movement.
DMK Hospital police camp is in charge. Bachchu Mia said that the body has been kept in the morgue.
