Dhaka Bureau: US Ambassador to Dhaka Peter Haas held a meeting with the Prime Minister’s Special Envoy for Environment and Climate Affairs and Member of Parliament for Dhaka-9 Saber Hossain Chowdhury.
The meeting was held for about two hours at the residence of Saber Hossain Chowdhury in Paribagh, the capital, on Monday (November 6). However, neither side said anything about what was discussed.
Peter Haas entered Saber Hossain Chowdhury’s house at 2:30 in the afternoon and left at 4:30 in the afternoon. At that time, he did not speak to the media. Saber Hossain Chowdhury also did not come out of the house.
It is believed that, in this meeting, important messages can be exchanged about the contemporary political situation of the country, especially the elections.
Earlier, Peter Haas held a closed-door meeting with Foreign Secretary Masood Bin Momen on November 3 at the Rashtriya Guest House Padma. But in what was discussed, neither side said anything openly.
Besides, the US ambassador held a meeting at the Election Commission office in Agargaon, the capital, on October 31. Later, he told the media that political violence around the election is not desirable in any way. He also urged the political parties to hold an unconditional dialogue before the elections.
