Dhaka Bureau: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s son and her IT advisor Sajeeb Wazed Joy have gone to court to testify.
He went to testify in the court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Muhammad Asaduzzaman Noor on Sunday (November 13) at 3:17 pm in the case of kidnapping and conspiracy to murder.
Strict security arrangements have been made in the area on the occasion of Joy’s appearance at the court. Except for the lawyer concerned, others were thrown out of the courtroom. Awami League Legal Affairs Secretary Kazi Najib Ullah Hiru said that media workers will be informed about this after the hearing.
After the start of the trial in this case, 9 out of 15 witnesses have already testified in the court.
The five defendants in the case are-Dainik Amar Desh newspaper acting editor Mahmudur Rahman, journalist Shafiq Rehman, Nationalist Social Cultural Organization (Jasas) vice-president Mohammad Ullah Mamun, his son Rizvi Ahmed alias Caesar and US expatriate businessman Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan.
According to the complaint of the case, from any time before September 2011, Mohammad Ullah Mamun along with the high-level leaders of BNP and other parties in the alliance led by the party gathered at Jasa’s office in Paltan in the capital, New York City of America, United Kingdom and Bangladesh in different areas and kidnapped Sajeeb Wazed Joy in America. Conspiracy to kill.
In that incident, Detective Police (DB) Inspector Fazlur Rahman filed a case at Paltan Model Police Station as a plaintiff on August 3, 2015. On February 19, 2018, the police filed a charge sheet against five people including journalist Shafiq Rehman.
