Dhaka Bureau: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed for the security of garments in Dhaka and its surrounding areas.
The BGB public relations officer said this on Thursday morning. Shariful Islam confirmed this information.
He said that a sufficient number of BGB have been deployed to strengthen the security of garments in Dhaka and its surrounding areas. A sufficient number of BGB members have been deployed to strengthen the security of garments in Ashulia, Savar, Mirpur, Rampura, Abdullahpur, Tongi, and Gazipur-Konabari areas.
Garment workers have been protesting for the past week, demanding a salary hike. There have also been incidents of police clashes with workers in various areas, including Mirpur, the capital.
In between, State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder came under fire while talking to the protesting workers in Mirpur on Wednesday (November 1). Then he was forced to leave the scene.
