Dhaka Bureau: The Election Commission (EC) is going to finalize the voter list for 300 constituencies as part of the preparations for the National Assembly elections. The constituency-wise voter list CD will be finalized on Thursday (November 2). The national election schedule will be announced soon after.
According to the EC, field officials were earlier instructed to include young voters. Besides, the organization is not giving the opportunity to those who will change the constituency to apply. For this purpose, the application period for changing the constituency has ended until September 14. If the area needs to be changed, it should be done after the parliamentary elections.
Senior Assistant Secretary of the EC Election Support Branch According to Nasir Uddin Chowdhury, the upazila or thana-wise voter list was sent for verification from the national identity registration department on September 28. After that, the upazila or thana-wise voter lists with and without photos were sent to the field on October 28 for election purposes. Finally, for 300 constituencies, CDs of voter lists without updated photos will be prepared today, November 2. A voter list CD without this photograph is provided to the candidates. In this case, the contending candidates will receive the seat-wise CD by paying a sum of money. On the basis of which CD candidates can know who is their voter
On August 16, the draft polling station was released by the organization organizing the election. Time has been given until August 31 to raise objections on that list. The last time to settle the claim after the hearing is September 17. And the final list of polling stations was published on September 24.
According to the latest voter list, the number of voters in the country is 11 crore, 91 lakh, 51 thousand, and 440 people. Among them, 6 crore, 4 lakh, 45 thousand, and 724 are male voters. And women voters are 5 crore, 87 lakh, 4 thousand, and 879 people. Besides, there are 837 third-gender voters. This number is likely to increase as opportunities for the inclusion of younger voters are created. Which will be known on September 14.
According to the EC list, this time there may be as many as 42,400 polling stations. And polling booths can be two lakh, 61 thousand, or 500. During the election of the 11th National Assembly, the number of voters was 10 crore, 42 lakh. At that time, 40,657 possible polling stations were determined. Among them, 40 thousand 199 centers were finalized after the verification.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal said that after scheduling in the first half of November, polling will be held at the end of December or the first week of January.
