Bandarban Correspondent: The auspicious Buddha Purnima of Buddhists is being celebrated in Bandarban in a grand atmosphere through various events. Buddha Purnima is the Tri-Smriti Vijarita of the birth, Buddhahood and Mahaparinirvana of Gautama Buddha, the founder of Buddhism. On the occasion of the auspicious Buddha Purnima, a Mars procession left the Rajbari premises of Bandarban on the morning of Wednesday (May 03), circled the main main road in the city and arrived at the Rajguru Buddhist Vihar premises and gathered at the Bodhi tree. There, after the Panchasheel eclipse, men and women, devotees and devotees worship the Bodhi tree by pouring sandalwood water and taking flowers.
Gautama left home at the age of 29 to attain Buddhahood and attained Buddhahood after 6 years of rigorous austerities at the root of a banyan tree on the banks of the Niranjana River, after receiving discipleship from various religious masters. So today is a very significant day for Buddhists.
